We were captivated, during our first Moroccan adventure, by the intricate beauty which belied the painstaking craftsmanship of the hand woven rugs made there. Adorning the walls of shops in the souk before continuing their journey into people’s homes, within each rug is concealed a unique story which begins with the sheep whose wool is dyed, spun and woven. These skills are passed down within families and communities whose rugs can often be recognised by their distinct use of colour and pattern.
